About NALA
NALA is an internationally recognized expert in the fight to eliminate neglected tropical diseases
(NTDs). NTDs impact more than 1.5 billion people worldwide, disproportionately affecting rural and
high-poverty populations with the least access to clean water and sanitation. Our innovative and
community-based solutions have led to a sustainable reduction in the burden of disease in project
areas. Our model complements drug administration campaigns with a focus on promoting healthy
behavior change, strengthening the capacity of the local community to improve public health, and
increasing their access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

About the Position
This position is 100% with an initial 3-month probationary period. The selected candidate will join
the NALA team that is based at our headquarters in Tel Aviv. If the position holder will be based in a
different location, travel might be expected at least 4 times a year for team meetings. Reporting to
the Learning and Innovation Manager, the Research Manager will support the design and
development of materials and tools to be used in our projects. He/she will also support the team in
researching novel strategies and technologies that could further enhance our work.

Responsibilities
1. Research and analyze interventions:
 Identify, together with the NALA team, the main research questions and opportunities to
influence the public health sector.
 Work closely with the Learning and Innovation Manager to identify relevant indicators and
research methodologies.
 Coordinate all research efforts and ensure high research quality is maintained with minimum
burden on operational teams.
 Translate Research Outcomes to organizational lessons learned.

2. Actively seek and connect with new academic partners and research grants
 Liaise with current and potential academic partners, build and strengthen relationships and
explore joint opportunities.
 Recruit researchers and research students that can support and enhance NALA’s research
activities, and serve as a liaison between the research teams and NALA. Map research funding opportunities and prepare grant proposals with the support of the
NALA team.

3. Publish findings in academic and professional publications, as well as international
conferences and forums to promote adoption of disease prevention strategies by
international partners.
 Translate research outcomes into academic papers and work on publishing research results
in the most relevant and impactful journals.
 Ensure NALA presents its findings in all relevant professional forums, such as the NNN,
ASTMH, COR-NTD.
 Participate in public health research networks such as the GSA Research working group.
 Initiate consultations on adoption of key models as standards of practice with international
actors and the WHO.

Competencies
1. Strong analytical skills- able to identify research priorities, design research strategies, and
analyze data independently.
2. Excellent academic writing skills – ability to author and edit academic papers.
3. Ability to form high level partnerships – can liaise and form formal collaborations with academic
institutions and researchers.
4. Good interpersonal skills- Cultural sensitivity; Collaboration; Effective communicator.
5. Strong work ethic- Self-motivated and can work independently and adapt well to changing
priorities and duties.

Qualifications
1. University master’s degree, preferably in a relevant subject matter such as public health, social
sciences and statistics.
2. Five years of relevant professional experience in research and/or monitoring and evaluation
activities within the public health sector. Published work in academic journals.
3. Previous work in international development in the Global South, and in the NTD Sector is an
advantage.
4. Mixed methods research experience is an advantage.
