Senior IT and System Administrator

MaxLinear is seeking for a Senior IT and System Administrator, to join our growing, global Engineering IT team. In this role, you will focus on:
• Identify and provide the need for new patches, upgrades, configurations, or new systems
• Strictly maintain goals and strategies to ensure IT services run smoothly and effectively.
• Provide employees with first-level contact and support, Collaborate with all company departments, ensuring full support and maximum user satisfaction
• Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure ongoing functionality and efficiency
• Lead IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services, managing projects from conception to completion
• Develop and maintain custom automation of repetitive tasks and improve consistency in operations and maintenance activities
• Monitor infrastructure, systems operations, and critical application services 24/7, and provide information and statistics relevant to systems availability and limits on capacity, data storage, systems utilization, etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related experience
• 5+ years of experience in IT field in global technological companies
• Hands-on experience with installations, administration, patching and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software (Linux & Windows) and networks
• Experience with supporting the following:
• Linux experience with RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu or other equivalents
• VMware experience or equivalent
• IBM LSF scheduler or equivalent
• NetApp Network storage or equivalent
• Knowledgeable with standard protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, SSH, TLS, VPN, NAT etc.)
• Experience with network security and AWS cloud security and services
• Knowledge and proficiency in developing scripts, using Bash, Korn, Perl, Python or Java
• Experience with the Atlassian suite: Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence and automation of those tools
• Monitoring and Metrics gathering (Elastic stack, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CM tools such as Docker/Kubernetes, Artifactory, Jenkins, Git/Gerrit and Ansible, especially automation/REST interfaces to these tools
Soft skills
• Experience with ITSM best practices and ITIL standards
• Have excellent multitasking skills and outstanding communication abilities as well as customer service perspective.
• Have a “can-do” spirit and take initiatives
• Ability to troubleshoot and support/drive issues to resolution, root cause analysis with strong analytical/problem solving abilities.
• Business Level English language proficiency, both written and verbal
• Familiarity with firewalls and network switches — Checkpoint/Palo Alto/Juniper/Cisco
